An interesting alternative for those that are looking for the formability and low weight of plastics but still want the metallic surface of stainless steel is to use back injection moulding technique. A stainless steel strip component prepared with an adhesive surface layer is inserted to the tool in the injection mould process and the hot plastic extruded into them mould activates the adhesive layer and bonds the two materials together. We can supply the stainless steel precision strip with special surface and the adhesive layer from Zapp Precision Strip.
Back injection moulding can be used for automotive doorsills, design light switches, white goods and kitchen equipment or in applications where formability and light weight constrictions in combination with a nice surface finish is required.
